Our client, a bank specialized in investment banking, is looking for a Technical Application Manager, for a position in the Netherlands.

Business Unit
The Business Unit ICT provides IT infrastructure, data processing and application support capacity to the entire organization.
ICT consists of 3 teams:

• Infrastructure Management and Cientsupport
• System Development & Maintenance
• Service Management

Job profile
ICT provides technical application management services to the risk management department. This service comprises application support and maintenance activities for a range of applications. This role is primarily focused on supporting the Algorithmics suite.

This position reports to the head of the Business Applications team within ICT, although you will be working very closely with staff from the risk management department.

Activities and responsibilities include:

• Creating and modifying Korn shell and Perl scripts;
• Algorithmics technical support (incident management, patching, upgrades);
• Algo “RiskScript” script development / maintenance (VBA derivative);
• Developing and maintaining queries, views and stored procedures on Sybase and MS – SQL server;
• Technical definintion of new interfaces and changes to existing interfaces;
• Start-of-day and end-of-day checks;
• Maintaining technical documentation set.

The role is based on a 40-hour week. There will be demand for occasional out of hours support.

Job requirements

Education

• The successful candidate will have the minimum of a HBO education in an IT-related study.

Experience

• At least 3 years experience of application support experience, ideally within an investment bank (or other financial institution) is required.
• Prior knowledge of market risk management is beneficial.
• Korn shell scripting;
• Strong SQL knowledge;
• Strong knowledge of RDBMS Sybase on RHEL and MS-SQL server;
• Experience writing, testing and deploying stored procedures;
• Strong knowledge of Solaris, Linux and MS-Windows.

Personality & skills

• Strong communication skills, both verbal and written. English language is essential, and preferably also Dutch; the role is within a mixed English/Dutch-speaking environment.
• Prepared to study/learn.
• Good analytical skills.
